Eight session of the Cibali Talks was made by Özgür Burçak Gürsoy from Beykoz University Business Administration Department with the title of “Journey of Tobacco from Field to Factory: A Socio-Economic History of Turkish Tobacco during the Monopoly (TEKEL) Period”, on 28th May. Dr. Gürsoy adverted the general aspects of the Turkish tobacco at the first hand. Later, she conveyed the problems and the phases of the market that affected a large part of the society from the cultivator families to the government in a simple and impressive manner. Burçak Gürsoy focused on the problems of cooperatives, banks and funding, including all the stakeholders of the market, and shared the information from the archive documents that she used in her research and made a reading of the socio-economic history of tobacco on the Tekel axis.
