Coming from a family of different ethnicities (a Dutch father and an Indonesian mother), and unconditionally open to cultural exchange, Richard Smeets uses the words above to describe one of his paintings in the exhibition entitled “Confrontations: Individual and Life.”
The exhibition will open at Rezan Has Museum on Thursday, March 7, presenting the works of the artist from his periods “Table Talk” (2007-2010) and “The Music Project” (2011-2012).
With 120 paintings, 5 statues and music composed with the inspiration of the creative process that led to these works, “Confrontations: Individual and Life” is Richard Smeets’s invitation to discover the defects of perfection, or even better, the perfection of defects.
